Eggnog Panna Cotta

There comes a time in every holiday lovers life when they’re asked to bring something to a festive social gathering. If you happen to be that person in this very moment, I’ve created the easiest, stunning dessert for you to whip up and deliver.

Eggnog Panna Cotta — IN A SNOW GLOBE.

Christmas junkies, rejoice. This recipe takes less than 10 minutes to prepare and is the “set it and forget it” type of recipe you dream about. Think crock pot level of ease, but cuter, creamier, sweeter and far more likely to get shared on the good old ‘gram.

I developed this recipe for a TV appearance on Tampa’s nationally syndicated news channel, but I loved it so much I couldn’t help but add it to my website. So, here it is. The eggnog dessert you never knew you needed.

Serves 6.

Ingredients

  • 1 quart Eggnog

  • 1 Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Bean Pod, scraped

  • 2 teaspoons Gelatin

  • 3 tablespoons Water

  • Miniature Gingerbread Men Cookies, to garnish

  • Freshly Grated Nutmeg, to garnish

  • Powdered Sugar, to garnish (optional)

  • Silver edible glitter, to garnish (optional)

Directions

  1. Infuse the vanilla into the eggnog: In a medium pot, warm the eggnog over low heat. Slice the vanilla pod in half and use a sharp knife to scrape out the inside into the eggnog. Whisk to incorporate and bring to a gentle simmer.

  2. Bloom the gelatin: Meanwhile, pour water into a small bowl and sprinkle the powdered gelatin evenly over top. Let soften for 5 minutes or until the surface is wrinkled and appears to be wet.

  3. Dissolve the gelatin in the eggnog: Whisk the bloomed gelatin into the eggnog until fully dissolved. Remove from the mixture from the heat.

  4. Pour mixture into serving snow globes: pour the eggnog mixture into your service vessel of choice (for snow globes, I love to use a large stemless burgundy glass). Let cool to room temperature. Cover each “globe” and transfer to the refrigerator to set for 3-4 hours, or overnight.

  5. Have fun with garnishes: once firm and ready to serve, remove globes from the refrigerator and garnish with miniature gingerbread cookies, freshly grated nutmeg and silver edible glitter.
